jdMission believes in its package approach; by charging a flat fee, we give you the freedom to constantly work to improve all aspects of your application, until together, we have crafted a truly strong and compelling final product. Your consultant will serve as your coach and partner every step of the way, guiding you through all aspects of the process.
Where does your GPA, LSAT and professional, extra-curricular and life experience position you to be accepted? (Or, what LSAT score, professional experience and more might you need to succeed?) Before beginning work on your application, we need to assess your profile and create a plan that will enable you to play to your strengths and bolster your weaknesses — an individualized approach to your application process.
Law school candidates have hundreds of schools from which to choose, and narrowing the field to those that are best suited to your academic and professional goals can be a daunting task. Your jdMission consultant will help you identify a target list of schools with that best suits your risk profile. We will determine which schools are safe, which are reaches and which are competitive programs for you — ensuring that you have the best chance of achieving your objectives.
As you prepare your law school application, you will need to have a profound understanding of what sets you apart as a law school applicant. We will provide a brainstorming questionnaire and multiple-angle exercise, which will help you unearth the stories that will differentiate you from an otherwise indistinguishable pack. Then, we will work with you to select and showcase your stories for maximum impact via your personal statement, diversity essay and, if necessary, your addendum.
We don’t want to only make your essays stronger, we want to make your life easier and more efficient. By submitting an outline of your personal statement and essays to your consultant, you will enable us to catch errors before they even happen. We will take a careful look at your outlines and ensure that you have the structure to succeed.
We will thoroughly and tirelessly review each draft of your personal statement, diversity statements and addenda, providing substantive feedback that will help you shaping your work and reveal your voice. While proofreading for small errors and fine-tuning your grammar are critical, we consider this to be a basic necessity. We will work with you to ensure that your essays standout and the admissions committees take notice. (Note: We will work on as many drafts as necessary until we are both satisfied).
Selecting and managing those who will write your letters of recommendation takes thought and skill. We will ensure that you are choosing the recommenders who will bolster your chances of acceptance and will provide the guidance necessary to ensure that your recommenders submit thoughtful and powerful letters. Many law school applicants just ask a recommender and hope they come through — we will help you maximize this crucial aspect of your application.
Your resume is not a throwaway, but a critical roadmap, which the admissions committee will use to quickly understand your life story. By bringing a results orientation to your resume, we will ensure that your academic, professional and personal accomplishments leap from the page.
We hope your road to law school has thus far been as smooth as possible, but if you have encountered some bumps along the way, we will help you mitigate or even neutralize those weaknesses. We have seen it all and know how to deal with any “surprises.”
Many law schools do not interview, but some schools will interview select candidates and a few even have open interview policies. If you have that opportunity, your jdMission consultant will help you make the most of it. We will prepare you for your interviews through our mock interview and feedback process, using questions asked of past candidates.
Once your acceptance letters start to roll in, you can finally breathe—but you are not done yet. In fact, a new phase of the application process begins. Determining which school is best for you can sometimes be agonizing. Your jdMission consultant will provide objective advice and input as you face the difficult choice of which school to attend. We will strategize with you about how to make the most of your law school visits, so that you most effectively evaluate each program. Further, we will help you prepare scholarship applications and essays to ensure that you have the best chance at reducing the cost of your law school education.
